Learn moreIntroducing Designer rug Britt - the Architecture of a Rug
”Britt carries the spirit of my grandmother, whose mid-century tailoring and refined materials embodied a quiet, timeless elegance.” - Maja Johansson Starander A Study in Structure, Material, and Quiet EleganceThere is a certain refinement that comes not from ornament, but from intention. With Designer rug Britt, Vandra Rugs introduces a woven composition where material and structure define the aesthetic — rather than colour.Crafted with linen in both warp and weft, Britt reveals a nuanced interplay of surfaces. Wool yarn forms the pattern, while the weaving structure itself creates two distinct tactile expressions that together shape a refined check design. The result is calm and cohesive — a harmonious palette born from construction, not contrast.Because the pattern emerges through structure, the rug offers a subtle architectural quality. Light and shadow move gently across its surface, emphasizing texture and depth. The woven expression feels grounded and authentic — a natural counterpoint to stone, wood, glass, and metal within contemporary interiors. The collection blends tradition with modern sensibility: rich in crafts-manship, anchored in material integrity, and visually enduring. Its textile character provides a foundational layer within a space — understated yet confident. Material Integrity. Artisan Craft.Since 2007, Vandra Rugs has operated its own weaving atelier in Ukraine, where skilled artisans combine local textile traditions with Swedish expertise. Each rug is handmade using the finest natural materials — cotton, wool felt, wool yarn, and linen — ensuring both durability and tactile depth. The atelier’s craftsmanship brings quiet complexity to every piece, offering designers a material solution that balances precision with warmth.About the DesignerA graduate of the Royal College of Art with a master’s degree in woven textiles, Maja Johansson Starander has been designing rugs and collections for global markets since 2013. Her work reflects a Scandinavian sensitivity enriched by international perspectives — merging cultural references with contemporary spatial needs to create tailored textile solutions. For specifications, samples, or trade inquiries, feel free to contact our representatives or our Stockholm office: Paris: Jules & Jim, Veronique Paravisini veronique.paravisini@julesetjim.fr London: Sinclair Till, Andrea Brougham vandra-rugs@sinclairtill.co.uk Milan: I Segni del Tempo, Francesca Macchia francesca@isegnideltempo.it New York: Michaud Studio, Jonathan Michaud jm@michaudstudio.comVandra RugsGrevgatan 32SE–114 53 Stockholm, Swedeninfo@vandra-rugs.comwww.vandra-rugs.com
