Vandra Rugs unveils a new collection exploring the dialogue between craftsmanship and contemporary design, with distinctive pieces by Lars Nilsson and Maja J. Starander. As part of 3daysofdesign, Vandra will curate the MKDT Studio space at Strandstræde, presenting Velvet Check, Britt, Snow and Coal, and Tuva alongside works by MKDT Studio, Gemla Fabriker, Calle Forsberg Ceramics, and Bernadotte & Kylberg — uniting Scandinavian craftsmanship, natural materials, and timeless design.
Java
Presenting the Java rug, designed by Neisha Crosland, featuring three overlapping angular lines that create a subtle sense of depth and movement. With a bright top line, a darker mid-layer, and a soft background tone, it offers a refined, modern expression.
Onde
Introducing the Onde rug, designed by Droulers Architecture, celebrates the harmony between nature and interiors. Its signature wave pattern evokes the movement of the sea, while hand-knotted details and a warm copper palette create a modern yet inviting atmosphere.
Radar
Introducing the Radar rug, designed by Neisha Crosland, features dynamic zigzags radiating from a single corner, creating a calm yet vibrant geometric rhythm. Woven using tapestry technique, it allows for exceptional precision and detail, bringing intricate patterns and abstract compositions to life.
Velvet Check
Velvet Check is a contemporary interpretation of the classic check pattern, where traditional craftsmanship meets modern design. Handwoven with a mix of textures and subtle metallic shimmer, it creates a bold yet refined statement, available in several elegant colourways.
Mosaic
Vandra Rugs presents Mosaic, a flat-woven wool rug crafted on a linen warp. The rug features a subtly mottled base that creates depth and a gentle movement as it catches and reflects the light throughout the day. Framed by a decorative border of block motifs in harmonising shades, Mosaic achieves a soft yet distinctive contrast.
Night Owl Ottoman
The Night Owl tapestry, designed by Ami Katz, evolves the Seasons tapestry collection with a refined, recentred pattern, larger scale, and balanced square composition. Its monochrome palette, accented with subtle colour highlights, echoes tones from Nilsson’s Snowflake, adding depth and versatility to the design.
Britt
Presenting Britt, a woven rug crafted with linen in both the weft and the warp, while wool yarn defines its subtle pattern. Through its distinctive weaving structure, the rug reveals two complementary surfaces that together form a refined, contemporary check.
Because the design is created through structure rather than colour, Britt offers a calm and harmonious palette—perfect for modern interiors.
Cardiogram
Introducing Cardiogram, a contemporary interpretation of traditional Röllakan. The design was born from Ami Katz and her team’s search for a rug that unites traditional röllakan craftsmanship with a modern expression. The result is a design that weaves together personal narrative and artisanal heritage.
Seasons Ottoman
Vandra Rugs proudly unveils a unique collaboration with Collett & Victor – a beautifully crafted ottoman upholstered in Season Tapestry "Summer", designed by Ami Katz. This project brings together fine craftsmanship and artistic heritage, bringing tapestry design into a new dimension.
And then you kissed me
Vandra Rugs is proud to announce a unique collaboration with British artist Jasper Galloway, translating his celebrated painting And Then You Kissed Me into a curated tapestry collection.
Seasons by Ami Katz
Vandra Rugs is thrilled to announce the Seasons Tapestry Collection, a new series of tapestry rugs designed by Ami Katz. Inspired by the vibrant colours of the changing seasons, this collection brings the beauty of nature and mythical creatures into a space. Born from years of watercolour sketching, each piece reflects a harmonious blend of motifs and colours.
Pendula
Inspired by her encounter with an 18th-century embroidery at Parham in West Sussex, Claire Fouché created Pendula, a tapestry collection that blends the intricate details and contemporary shapes of British embroidery with the native floral motifs of South Africa.
Pietra by Ami Katz
Inspired by the iconic Malmstenbutiken in Stockholm, Pietra is a new rug collection designed by Ami Katz. Rooted in Carl Malmsten’s heritage, the design features a symmetrical chequered pattern with strategically deleted lines, offering a modern graphic touch. The collection, in various colorways, blends natural hues with a contemporary twist. Available in both an exclusive knotted pile or a röllakan version, Pietra seamlessly combines the old and new in interior design.
Miho & Berthillion
Vandra Rugs proudly introduces Miho and Berthillon Blue, exquisite creations by designer Lars Nilsson. Combining Scandinavian landscapes with urban elements, Lars introduces his signature non-repetitive stripe patterns in a herringbone weave, using natural wool, linen, and the luxurious touch of undyed sheep’s fur, giving each design the artistry and quality of couture pieces.
Sea Meadow & Velvet Check
Maja Johansson Starander’s collection for Vandra Rugs brings her vision to life, merging traditional elements with modern design to create pieces that are both functional and artistically captivating. While the Velvet Check is a contemporary twist on a classic checkered pattern, striking a perfect balance between tradition and innovation Sea Meadow seamlessly blends the essence of a traditional Swedish rag rug with an original design.
Zebra
Joyn Studio, a leading interior architectural studio in Stockholm, celebrates the ongoing success of the Zebra rug, designed for Vandra Rugs. This playful yet sophisticated design adds a modern twist to traditional woven rug.
